Plans & limits
BioSkepsis meters usage around one core unit — the research brief, a single full agent run. This page explains what each plan includes, what draws down your monthly allowance, and how pay-as-you-go keeps the agent working once you pass a limit.
#Plans at a glance
Every plan runs the same agent: it searches across 40M+ papers in the life-science literature, screens for relevance, and synthesises a cited brief. Plans differ in how many briefs and follow-ups you get each month, and in a handful of workflow features. Prices are shown per month and exclude applicable taxes; annual billing is available at a lower effective rate.
| Plan | Price | Research briefs | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | Free | 1 / month | Students & curious minds |
| Plus | €8 / month | 4 / month | Master's & PhD students |
| Pro | €35 / month | 16 / month | Postdocs, PIs & healthcare pros |
| Team | €60 / seat / month | 9 / seat / month | Research labs & R&D groups (min. 3 seats) |
| Organization | Custom | Any combination of plans | Pharma, biotech & institutions |
#What each tier adds
- Basic (free) — 1 full research brief per month, semantic literature search, AI relevance screening, the Literature Landscape graph, hypothesis and methodology generation, all smart-select filters, file & image attachments, and a personalized Research Feed with email alerts.
- Plus (€8/mo) — everything in Basic, plus 4 briefs a month, a higher monthly quota for mechanistic links and landscape narratives, report export, and pay-as-you-go for overage.
- Pro (€35/mo) — everything in Plus, plus 16 briefs a month, deeper per-chat analysis with a larger context window, longer initial research prompts, and the largest mechanistic-links, landscape, hypothesis, and methodology allowances.
- Team (€60/seat/mo) — everything in Pro, with 9 briefs per seat per month, a minimum of 3 seats, member invitation and management, shared billing under one subscription, and volume pricing (seats 4 and up at a lower rate).
- Organization (custom) — any combination of plans plus dedicated or private-cloud deployment, full data isolation and encryption, SSO, GDPR/HIPAA readiness, a dedicated account manager, and onboarding, training & priority support.
#What counts toward your limits
A research brief is one full agent run: the agent searches the literature, screens papers for relevance, and produces a cited synthesis. Starting a new research question spends one brief from your monthly allowance — this is the primary quantity every plan is sized around.
Within and around a brief, a few other quantities are metered separately:
- Follow-up questions — continuing a conversation after a brief is delivered draws from a separate monthly follow-up allowance (roughly 5/mo on Basic, 10/mo on Plus, 25/mo on Pro and Team). These are typical estimates, not hard counters.
- Mechanistic links, landscape narratives, hypotheses, and methodologies — each has its own monthly quota that grows with your plan; Pro carries the largest allowances.
Counts are typical estimates set by your monthly token allowance. Actual mileage depends on the complexity of the question, how many follow-ups you ask, and how long each response runs — a short, tightly scoped question consumes less than a broad one with many follow-ups.
#Monthly allowances by feature
The table below shows the concrete per-plan limits. Values that are identical across plans are ceilings applied to a single research session regardless of tier.
| Feature | Basic | Plus | Pro | Team |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Full research briefs per month | 1 | 4 | 16 | 9 / seat |
| Max papers discovered per research session | 1,000 | 1,000 | 1,000 | 1,000 |
| Results per query (Interpretation) | 100 | 100 | 100 | 100 |
| Results per query (Literature Review) | 50 | 50 | 50 | 50 |
| Full-text papers added to Sources | 70 | 70 | 70 | 70 |
| Follow-up questions | ~5 / mo | ~10 / mo | ~25 / mo | ~25 / mo |
| Smart-select filters | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Mechanistic links table | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Landscape Narrative | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Attachments | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Export report | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Personalized Research Feed | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
The Interpretation and Literature Review caps limit how many results the agent pulls per query during a session, while the session-wide ceiling of 1,000 papers and 70 full-text sources bound how much evidence a single brief can gather. Pro additionally raises the per-chat context window and the length of the initial research prompt, so it can hold more of a long investigation in view at once.
#Pay-as-you-go overage
Every paid plan — Plus, Pro, and Team — includes pay-as-you-go. When you reach a monthly limit, the agent does not stop: additional usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis so your research continues uninterrupted.
- You only pay for what you use. Overage is metered against actual consumption rather than a fixed bundle.
- Pricing is shown up front. The cost of a query is displayed before you run it, so there are no surprises after the fact.
- Basic has no overage. The free plan is capped at its monthly allowance; to continue past the limit, upgrade to a paid plan.
#Managing your usage
A few practices keep your allowance going further and your bill predictable:
- Scope questions tightly. Because counts scale with question complexity, response length, and follow-ups, a focused prompt spends less of your allowance than a broad one.
- Batch follow-ups within a brief. Continuing an existing conversation draws from the separate follow-up allowance; consolidating related questions into one session is more efficient than starting new briefs.
- Watch the pre-query price. On paid plans the projected cost appears before each query, giving you a checkpoint before spending overage.
- Upgrade or change billing period in your account. Plan changes, downgrades, seat adjustments, and switching between monthly and annual billing are all handled in the billing portal from your account settings.
